The Tysons Corner Phenomenon
What is Tysons? It's not a recognized city, but
it is one of the top 10 growing urban centers
in the United States

||
Geography
Tysons Corner is the meeting place of Vienna (South of Route
7) and McLean (North of Route 7) with three access points to
I-495, the Dulles Toll Road, and quite probably in the future a
Metro rail, making it a highly sought after area to establish
business and personal investments. According to the Center for
Regional Analysis, Tysons has by far the most office space in
all of Fairfax County .
||
Tysons Corner Center Mall & Unofficial Expansion Plans
Tysons Corner Center , currently with 250
stores is one of, if not the most desirable shopping centers in
the Greater Metropolitan area. Plans are underway to expand in
and around the mall, facilitating the already rapid job growth
in Tysons.
Expansion projected to be completed over 10
years
||
Metro Rail Extension
A $1.5 billon Metro rail extension from West
Falls Church stop to Tysons Corner, extending further to Dulles
International Airport has been planned to accommodate the
expansion.
The funding for Metro Rail will come from:
-
25% from raised tolls for Dulles Toll Road
-
25% from landowners (including mall owners) in the area
-
50% from the Federal Government

|| Residential Growth &
Investments $$$
Though, Tysons officially has no single family
home dwellings, only high density condominiums and townhouses,
many residents surrounding the area refer to their homes as
"living in Tysons" as if it were a city. One thing is clear,
Tysons is a fast growing and appreciating urban area,
contributing to its appeal. Since 1990, many townhouse and
single family developments emerged around the major arteries of
Tysons Corner. To find out the recent sales, log onto
www.homesdatabase.com/yingying. Since the Tysons
developments are relatively small, sellers and buyers need more
thorough research and expanded study to correctly evaluate the
area home market. Contact me at

› Job Opportunity & Expected Growth
$$$
The Washington Post reported on March
2005 that Fairfax County was responsible for 35% of job growth
in the Metropolitan DC area in 2004. More than 80,000 new jobs
are created each year in our region, yet only 25,000 new homes
are built to fill the housing need. Tysons Corner is a prime
example of that thriving job growth. The wide array of jobs,
from accounting to legal services to government contracting,
further contributes to the allure of Tysons. Tysons is also home
to corporate and regional headquarters of many prestigious
establishments.
› Schools
The following three high school
districts---McLean High, Madison High, and George Mason High
